The best location for a DStv dish is the one with clear north-east sky, easy serviceability and structural strength. In that order.
Walls are usually the smartest choice β easy to access, easy to seal and easy to align. Look for a north-east facing wall with no trees in the way.
Roofs work well when walls don’t have line-of-sight, but they’re harder to service. Always insist on proper flashing and sealing.
Pole mounts (ground-based) are perfect for tall trees or where the building can’t take a bracket β but the pole must be deep-set and plumb.
Avoid: balconies that get heavy wind, walls under big trees, and anywhere a future renovation might block the dish.
