Dish size determines how much satellite signal you collect. A bigger dish doesn’t change channels — it gives you more reserve signal so weather and small misalignments don’t break the picture.
60cm dishes are the Gauteng standard. They work great in most weather and are the smallest visually.
80cm dishes are recommended in areas with frequent rain-fade or marginal signal — KZN coast and parts of Mpumalanga, for example.
90cm dishes are for the most demanding installations: heavy weather, distant cable runs, or future-proofing high-end installs.
Bigger dishes need stronger mounts and clean line-of-sight — there’s a small cost premium that’s well worth it if you want zero weather outages.
