How to Fix ‘No Signal’ on Your DStv (Practical Guide)

30 Apr 2026 Β· 0 min read

‘No signal’ is the most common DStv message β€” and most cases have one of five causes. Here’s the order to check them.

1) Power-cycle the decoder. 60 seconds off, then back on. If the boot is normal but the message stays, it’s not the decoder.

2) Check connections behind the TV and decoder. A loose HDMI explains ‘no signal’ from the TV’s input; a loose RF (coax) connector explains it from the decoder.

3) Inspect the dish if you can see it. Has it shifted? Is the LNB still pointing at the dish reflector? Wind and animals are common culprits.

4) Check the weather. Heavy thunderstorms cause temporary rain-fade and the picture returns when the storm passes.

5) If none of the above work, call us. We arrive with calibrated meters and full spares to fix it in one visit.
